Fantastic Friday!

Relief Society Fantastic Friday is coming quickly (October 14th)! Put it on your calendars so you don't forget!

Have you seen the cute crafts they have picked out for us to have available to make? They are so cute! If you get a chance and haven't seen them, they have been in the hall right next to the Relief Society Room. Money needs to be turned in by Sept. 25th (this Sunday) Checks can be made out to RaNae Anderson.

Crafts will be available to work on from 4:30-9:00 PM

Wood Thanksgiving Board - $17

Reversible Fall/Halloween Blocks - $10

Wood Joy Christmas Board - $10

Tic Tac Toe Game - $12

There is also going to be a demonstration on making Almond Roca Candy. Bring your own ingredients and make and take it home. Please bring:

1 pound butter

1 giant Hershey Br

1 pound light brown sugar

1 pound of walnuts or other nut

Cookie Sheet lined with foil

There are going to be several classes.

• How to preserve your photos and slides
• Hands on how to use and get the most out of your cell phone
• And a display on freeze dried foods.

Dinner will be served from 5:30 - 7:00 PM

We will also be working on our service project, the "I was a Stranger" Giving Tree. Please bring your donations that evening.

Our Heavenly Father established families to help us teach correct principles in a loving atmosphere. President Thomas S. Monson said: “Give your child a compliment and a hug; say, ‘I love you’ more; always express your thanks. Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved.”¹

Susan W. Tanner, former Young Women general president, taught: “Our Father in Heaven exemplifies the pattern we should follow. He loves us, teaches us, is patient with us, and entrusts us with our agency. … Sometimes discipline, which means ‘to teach,’ is confused with criticism. Children—as well as people of all ages—improve behavior from love and encouragement more than from fault-finding.”²

“If we faithfully have family prayer, scripture study, family home evening, priesthood blessings, and Sabbath day observance,” said Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, “our children will … be prepared for an eternal home in heaven, regardless of what befalls them in a difficult world.”³

Imagine my surprise when, a few moments later, he pushed himself between me and the paper. Taking my face in his hands and pressing his nose up to mine, he asked, ‘Grandpa! Are you in there?’

Free Bottling Jars

Marsha Iverson has some extra bottling jars that she needs to find a home for. They are quart size. Please contact her if you are interested in them.

Gordon Edwards Funeral

Kris Edward's father, Gordon Edwards, passed away last week. His funeral will be held at 11:00 am. Friday, July 8th, at the Elba LDS Church with Bishop Tom Ottley officiating. Burial will follow at the Grand View Cemetery in Elba.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 pm Thursday, July 7, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley, 1350 E. 16th S., and from 10 until 10:45 am Friday, preceding the service.

The family requests memorials to be directed to Primary Children's Hospital or to Ronald McDonald House, c/o Rasmussen Funeral Home, P.O. Box 878 Burley, ID 83318-0878.

Howard Stokes

Howard Stokes passed away on Sunday. His funeral will be held on Thursday June 23rd. The service will be at 3:00 PM at the Rogers and Taylor's mortuary.

New Babies!

We have been very blessed this week with two new babies in our ward.

EJ & Marlie Pali welcomed their daughter Emmie Jean on Monday, June 6th.

Jeff & Bethany Stocking welcomed their daughter Cora June on Sunday, June 12th.

We are all so very excited for these families and the new sweet children that they've brought into the world.
